Pencil, 106 x 191 mm, inscribed at the lower right: »Wostrei d. 31ten Mai.«, on the verso: mountain-chain.
The drawing once was part of a sketchbook.

Compare this drawing with: “Boy sitting on a tree-trunk” and “Conifers” at the Leipziger Museum der Bildenden Künste (Inv. Nr. I 3678 and I 3677). Both are similar in style and technique and are bearing inscriptions in the same handwriting. Carus often travelled to Bohemia. In the years 1818, 1820, 1821, 1822, 1827, 1837 and 1841 excursions are documented. 1821 he has travelled to Eger (present name Usti), wich is close to Wostrey.
