Graphite and brown wash. The main outlines were pressed through. The verso being covered with red chalk allowed the reproduction of the motive to a printing plate.
This is the preliminary drawing for an etching dated 1817 (BG 154 x 230 mm) which reproduces the painting »Der Prater« (a park in central Vienna) which was acquired by Prince Metternich (whereabouts onknown).

Condition: well preserved.
