Black chalk, 414 – 420 x 296 -301 mm. Inscribed at the bottom right: “d. 25 Januar 1….- Akademie d. K……“ (25th of January 1…., Academy of Fine A….”)

Conservation: Slightly soiled and stained

Provenance: Private Collection Berlin

I would like to thank Dr. Richard Hüttel (Leipzig) for confirming the attribution (written statement September 7th 2009).
As the inscription states, this drawing was executed when Oeser was the head of the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig. J. W. Goethe and J. J. Winkelmann have been pupils of Oeser.
